Youth Behavior Survey - 2021
Key Finding on Disparities Across almost all measures of substance use, experiences of violence, mental health, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors, female students are faring more poorly than male students. These differences, and the rates at which females students are reporting such negative experiences, are stark. Note: This only covers survivors and leaves boys and girls who actually die by suicide out. I contend, there is a rather stark difference in experience and reporting over a 10-year trend report, that those in the report who die by suicide, when tabulated, would reveal a very different results, especially since 75-80% of suicides of Oregon youth under 25 are male. This report covers up or ignores the difference in intent (http://www.ZeroAttempts.org/serious-intent.html) to die by suicide and the factors that are at play in that decision.)
